The Lord's Prayer PDF Print E-mail
Articles - Prayer
Written by Mr.Samir Mukha

The disciples of Jesus asked him to teach them to pray (Lk.11:1). Let us look at the model Jesus gave to his disciples and to us in the area of prayer. The prayer in Matthew 6 is often called the Lord’s Prayer, but actually it could be called the disciple’s prayer, because it was meant for the disciples. I have divided this passage into 5 parts, with 5 P's. These are praise, priority, provision, penitence and protection.

Written by Mr. John Samadhanam

Sickness is a disruption of the norm, it interrupts the ability to work and enjoy. Healing is generally understood as restoration to the state prior to the onset of sickness or injury. Healing is also the process of reconciling broken human relationships and to the development of a just social and political order among races and nations.

What does it mean to be a discipled doctor? Jesus’ last command, known commonly as the 'Great Commission' emphasizes the activity of 'making disciples’ of all nations, teaching them to obey all that I commanded'. So it is vital for doctors to both be disciples of the Lord and make disciples of others.

Often ‘devotion’ is understood as Bible study. When someone says that s/he ‘had devotion in the morning’, what they usually mean is that they read their Bible. However, the meaning of the word is quite different from studying the scriptures.

Do you have an ambition? Do you have a dream? One life. That's what we've got. What should we do with it? What can we make with it? Ask Amos. This shepherd made his one life count. The call for him to become a preacher-prophet for Yahweh came from six different directions. The challenge for you to do something for Jesus, in the one life you have, could come from those very same directions!

Pastoral Praxis in the modern church PDF Print E-mail
Articles - Pastor
Written by Rev. Francis Doddamani

Technology has brought a huge change to our world. Modern comforts have raised the standard of living to a high level. Even pastoral ministry appears to have been hugely affected by this new outlook. A church equipped with the most modern amenities, which caters to the fine and refined senses of a person, is more sought for. This attitude results in drawing faulty conclusions about the greatness of ministry, by measuring the abundance of external things, such as the size of his church, the kind of car the pastor drives, etc. Of course there is nothing wrong in having those things. However, such external things can keep a pastor from knowing the heartbeat of pastoral ministry.

When the Lord chooses a person for His service, He begins the process of preparation quite early, right from the beginning of his/her life. The Servant of the Lord (the Messiah) says, “Before I was born the Lord called me; from my birth he has made mention of my name” and then proceeds to describe his preparation. This was true of Jeremiah (Jer.1:5), John the Baptist (Lk.1:15) and the apostle Paul (Gal.1:15).

In Matthew 5:41, Jesus said if someone asks you to go one mile you go two miles. During the time of Jesus, a Roman soldier could ask any man to carry his baggage. Such a person was duty bound to carry it for a mile. Jesus taught that we shouldn't stop at one mile, but be prepared to go an extr mile.
