A friend who “has nothing” to offer his friend goes to another friend, a householder who “has possessions” asks for three loaves of bread (Lk.4:5-13). Three loaves of bread equates a meal of an average person. Initially the householder was unwilling, but he responded to the persistence, thus illustrating the theme of persistence.

Instead of usual Easter card with floppy-eared bunnies or coloured eggs, which have more to do with the spring festival than with Christian observances of this holy time, my artist friend Thea sent me a picture of a poignant painting by 16th century Venetian artist Tiziano Vecellio, better know as Titian. The original, entitled’ Noli Me Tangere’ hangs in London’s National Gallery.

Luke 23:13-25 
Jesus faced lot of opposition in his earthly life. The chief priests and the Jewish leaders were constantly after Jesus to kill him because of jealousy. Finally, they catch Jesus and brought to Governor Pilate to sentenced Jesus to death since they do not have the power to pronounce death sentence. They accused Jesus as a rebel (revolutionary) who forbade people to pay taxes to Caesar. They also said that Jesus claimed himself to be a messiah (Christ), a king.
